Having created the concept and master plan for thirteen hotels, resorts and casinos in the last year, its been a busy and productive time for our team. The Nine Dragons project, a massive waterfront theme park and destination resort located within two hours of Shanghai, has already completed its first phase of development, with its Golf Club, Polo Club, and Marina Club, all open for over a year now. We are designing the next phase of this unique project; a destination resort which includes a theme park, water park, retail village, five-star themed resort hotel and a luxury residential tower. In Macau, the $1.2 billion dollar Galaxy Mega Resort, a massive 3,000 room resort and casino designed by GGE is now under construction and aims for a 2011 opening.
We created the concept, master plan and overall design of the exterior and interior for the entire Galaxy project. In Las Vegas we were engaged by the Tropicana Resort & Casino to create the new exterior design, an exciting 4D water ride, and a 300,000 square-foot retail mall that would rival our own Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. As envisioned by our designers, the all-new resort casino promises to be the next must-see attraction for Las Vegas. In Chengdu, China, we created seven resort hotels for Zhixin Industrial Group, each one part of a larger vacation destination. As this report goes to press, we are embarking on a new venture in Shenyang, China that features two major themed resort hotels, a majestic spa and a shopping boulevard set alongside a beautiful theme park and lagoon.
Our approach to creating unique and original resort and dining experiences builds upon the highly successful approach to design that Gary developed for theme parks and attractions. We take the principles of emotional connection, immersive environments, unique surprises and focused entertainment elements and apply these principles to our architectural projects with great success. We aim to create spaces that are conducive to living, working and playing; spaces that make our guests feel comfortable and at ease, while at the same time providing areas that are exciting, dynamic and out of the ordinary. To that end, we think not only about the design, but about the lighting, the sound, the music, the furniture and everything else that makes it a total experience. It comes down to creating a space that has no contradictions in it, allowing one area to flow into another, captivating each visitor with unique surprises at every turn. Essentially, our hospitality projects, in hotels, restaurants and clubs, enjoy high traffic, positive customer experiences, and repeat visits. This comes from creating unforgettable experiences through design; and thats what we aim for in every project we undertake.
